My advice, get over it. This is going to happen. It's human nature. The best thing you can do is to set up boundaries and stick to them.
How many times have we seen on the news where family and managers have spent the millions of the movie stars who trusted them. While they were out earning a living, and perfecting their craft, no matter what that craft is, others are plundering their riches.
How many times have we heard the accusations that someone is "controlling" or "dominating" another. Why do we struggle with this?
When I started my first business, I had people climbing out of the woodwork asking for jobs. Some people claimed to be friends, although I do not remember them at all. Others claimed to have gone to high school with me, but they are not in the yearbook. Why did they do this? Because they wanted something.
That something might be different for each person. Some find their security and happiness in life with wealth, others with manipulating people. Some people find themselves in their work.
Me, I find my self-worth through Christ. Think about it for a second. He came to this earth to die for me (and you). He thinks so much of us and our abilities that He was willing to sacrifice his very life so that we can pursue, through acknowledgement and worship of Him, our life's dreams and goals. While others want to control and ultimately take what we have earned, Christ came to give it all to us. That doesn't mean we get everything that we want, but through Him we can have eternal life, and life true blessings here.
In His own words, "I have come so that you might have life, and live it abundantly."
Set up boundaries for those that want to take from you, and open your arms and heart to the one that came to give.
