A confession: I did not take my own advice this weekend. I am typically up at 5, at work by 7, lucky to leave by 5-5:30, and with no stops on the way home, I am typically at home by 6-6:30, if it is not writer's group night. Then it can be as late as 9:00. So yesterday I volunteered to cover a function for Inspire Writers, and when I crawled out of bed at 6:00 am, I knew instantly that I had a problem. After 50 hours at work, I was exhausted, but I had volunteered and could not back out at the last minute. So I got some fast food breakfast to get me there. I snacked on the candy table throughout the day, and I grabbed some quick dinner on the way home. Today I paid for it. Another sluggish day with headaches and zero energy. My allergies are also acting up.
So guess what I'm doing now? Slicing carrots and celery for the week. I steamed some cauliflower earlier, and packaged up some raisins. If I make enough little baggies of fresh veggies, then it can last me the whole week. So, when I run from one place to another, I can have a healthy snack rather than a McAnything Jr. Between that and my vitamins (Yes, I am a firm believer in a daily vitamin regimen) I can have more energy and feel better.
And, remember that prayer for more hours in the day? Guess what, with more energy you get exactly that!
