Much debate has been put into the writing world today about how long chapter lengths should be. While in the past, longer chapter lengths were the norm, now shorter, more concise chapters are the most popular. If you do have longer chapters, make sure they are broken up in several places.
Most people, me included, do not have more than a few minutes to spare reading. During lunch hours (or in my case, a lunch half hour), for a few minutes while the kids do their homework, or those last few minutes before we fall asleep at night. We want to stay with the story, and not drop it off in the middle of a thought or action scene. For me, I try to keep my chapters between 1500-2000 words max.
Here is a good article from one of my favorite writer tip people.
