Today's lesson: Multi-tasking. Something I am not particularly good at!
But for writing I find that there are some things that do come naturally.
I've heard it said that writing is 90% thinking and 50% typing. For me, that's pretty much true. So for those thinking times, learn to combine it with other things. Some examples are:
Walking the dogs;
folding the laundry;
gardening (if you have time for such things);
driving;
watching your children's sporting events;
working out;
etc.
There are a lot of mindless, brainless things that we do every day. Most of them are very mundane things that we endure rather than enjoy. Think twice before turning on the TV while you mop the kitchen floor. Take advantage of the quiet to get your brain cells moving.
Just make sure to always keep either a recording device of some kind, or a note pad and pen with you. Inspiration can always seem to strike a long way from convenient.
