Many centuries ago, there was another dreamer. His name was Joseph. Being one of his family’s youngest, he was very spoiled by his elderly father. Joseph had eleven brothers, but his father made no secret of the fact that Joseph was his favorite. He used to tell his brothers all about his dreams.
One dream he had was he and his brothers were all binding sheaves of wheat out in the fields. As they would finish one, they would lay it down in the field. Joseph’s sheave rose up on end, and the others all bowed down to his. His brothers became very angry over this. The Bible says they “hated” him. Hate is a very strong word, but goes to show the true nature of the situation.
Another dream he told them of was that the sun, moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to him. They snapped. Joseph was kidnapped, sold into slavery by his own brothers over this, and later thrown into prison on false charges. There, he began to interpret dreams. Word got out to the Pharaoh who was quite distressed about some dreams-nightmares- that he was having. Joseph was called to interpret his dreams, and then given a place of honor in this foreign land because his interpretations turned out to be true. From this position of power and authority, he was able to save tens of thousands of people from starvation, but also his own family - the ones who had hated and sold him as a slave so long ago.
So dream your dreams. Believe in yourself. Listen to God, and follow Him wherever He leads you. There are no accidents with God. He made you who and what you are. He has a purpose and a plan. Do not be discouraged by this life.
Dream It.
Wish It.
Do It.
Genesis 37:5-9
5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.”
8 His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.
9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.”
Acts 2:17
“‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Deuteronomy 1:21
“… Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Dream It.
Wish It.
Do It.
