This weekend, here in Northern California we will have a torrential rainstorm known as an Atmospheric River.
A what?
Now that sounds like something my fantasy-author brain would make up. But, it's true, and it's headed for my neck of the woods. Weather reports are calling for 8 feet (yes, feet) of snow up in the mountains. Some areas are also expecting between 8 to 15 inches of rain in 24-48 hours. Remember, I live in sunny California. This "river" is over 4,000 miles long. Here's the whole story:

Just the term "Atmospheric River" intrigued my strange brain. I pictured a wall of water coming down from the heavens, and that is basically what will happen. This is tropical moisture that has traveled this way, guided by the jet stream, and dumping here on our drought weary landscape. It is described as a rain storm, a snowstorm, a blizzard, floods and avalanches - all at the same time. Aren't we in for a good weekend~ Thinking of every excuse I can find to stay indoors.
I think God has heard our prayers, and is answering in a huge way. In His way.
If you're in my neck of the woods, take care, stay dry, and keep on believing.
