Be a writer, not a martyr.
Ask for help when you need it.
I know when I was first married, I would ask for something, and when no one would jump up to help, I did the old "No, no. I'm fine. You just sit there. I'll do it myself." For whatever reason (either falling into my ploy, stubbornness, or just sheer stupidity) I never seemed to get the help that I needed. That marriage didn't last, for a lot of reasons. But one thing I learned: The world has way too many martyrs!
Enlist as many people as you can to help. Set up a schedule for household chores if you need to. Ask friends to run errands. Give yourself permission to order dinner in. When you are on a deadline, and those minutes are ticking by faster than you can count them - don't be a martyr.
Most people really want to help you as a writer, but they just don't know how. Everybody wants to feel as if they had a little bit to do with your creative work. Perhaps an acknowledgement in the beginning and they will be falling at your feet. people just love to help. Give them something to do.
