Call in those favors.
Remember when you baby sat for others and told them not to worry about it.
Brought soup to a sick friend.
Pulled the neighbors weeds, or took down their garbage cans when they couldn't.
We like to think we are supermen/women. We can do it all. We don't need any help. I can be both mom, dad, working professional, homemaker, church worker, volunteer, and, ummmm ~ what was that last thing? Oh yeah! SANE!
The fact is that we cannot. Anxiety and stress levels are at an all time high in society. We can't do it all. We can't even begin to. I just backed out of some commitments with my writer's group that I dearly love, because there just aren't enough hours in the day for everything. I will have to pick them back up when I retire.
So, in the meantime, when I am on a tight deadline, I plan on calling in those favors. Yes, you can bring me a meal. Yes, you can do my laundry. And while you are going to the grocery store, can you pick up a few things for me... or learn how to use a grocery delivery service. Safeway.com delivers in my area.
Whatever it takes, do not lose sight of what if important. Getting that project done. Not for you, but for God!
