Stephen King says, if you want to be a good writer, you have to read.
Read, read, read... read everything you can get your hands on. I recommend 4-6 hours a day.
Great. Who has time for that? Between being mom, or dad, or mom and dad, work, church, family, housework, eating and sleeping - there just isn't that much time left in a week, let alone a day.
So here's one suggestion: audio books. Personally, I use Audible.com. It is easily managed from the web. You can also listen from either the web, or from a device you have. It is also an Amazon company and you use the same logins for both.
If you listen to your audio books on the way too work and on the way home, that's probably the better part of an hour a day for most of us. Instead of TV, listen to your audio books while doing housework or cooking dinner. I also happen to have a job where I am able to do some routine functions for at least a couple of hours a day, give or take. that is a perfect time to listen to a story rather than listening to the radio. Or in those last few twilight minutes between wide awake and sleep, set the timer and listen for about 15 minutes when you go to bed.
Do you run? Yeah, me neither.
Walk the dogs?
Grocery shop?
If you examine your schedule I'm sure you can find a little time. Don't let someone else's idea of time put a damper on what you can do. Just do the best you can in what time you have available. You will still grow, gain knowledge, and escape from the drudgery of life for a little while.
