Ok, I just found this video and had to share it. I have seen the light!!! This video about human behavior will tell you just how far the enemy can drag you down, and drag you away from others. Jesus' command is to live one another. This perfect example of human behavior is exactly the opposite. Check it out!!! It will change the way you see those closest to you.

How many Lutherans does it take to change a light bulb?

Change?!?!?!?!?! (scared face)

Change is scary, for a lot of people and for a lot of reasons - especially in relationships. The truth is that some people just refuse to change, and would rather sacrifice a relationship rather than face the change that is required to make it work.

And here's the clencher. Some people are simply not capable of change. It's not that they won't, they just can't.

How many psychiatrists does it take to change a light bulb? Just one. But it takes a long time, costs a lot of money, and the light bulb has to want to change.

Change comes from the inside. If the party involved either won't or can't, there's nothing you can do to make that happen. The best and most important step at that point, is prayer. Ask God to do the impossible. Ask Him to intervene and do the things that you cannot. Ask God for a miracle. Then sit back and see what happens. Understanding that the answer might not be Yes. Sometimes you have to walk away. And that walking away is for a reason. That reason always should be to glorify God. If you are being held back, held down, prevented from being all you can be, then it's time to shake the dust from your feet and move forward.

Christ came to change the world - to shake it up and give us a new perspective. I, for one, will not be stuck in the same old rut that I have been for decades. It's time to spread my wings and fly to heights that I have only dreamed of so far. I will miss those that get left behind, but they have the choice of coming along with me on this journey called life.

Change is not always bad. Just different.

Why can't you validate my feelings?

Why do we look to others for validation?

We don’t need someone else to agree with every movie we like, every song we download, or how we spend our time; yet we insist that others approve of us in every way. We insist people esteem us. They must like us and our choices, and if they have a different opinion, or don’t jump up and applaud at every breath we take, somehow we are less than we think we should be.

Why does it matter what others think of us? What is it about the human experience that craves others to validate us? Truly, the only one that matters is God. When we insist that others follow along with everything that we want or say, in essence we are taking their choices away from them. We are telling them that their choices aren’t important and they need to agree with everything we do. Free will and the ability to make our own choices is a God-given right. Who are we to take that away from someone else?

We are enough for Christ to die for us. We are in need nothing more than God’s love. What others think of us should never matter.

So why is it so hard to live that way?

See life differently.

This book changed my life.

After a lifetime of beating my head against the wall, not understanding how and why people do the manipulative, controlling things they do, I bought this.

I cried when I read it, because for the first time, I got it. Their control and their behavior wasn't about me.

The biggest thing I remember about this book, is the FOG. Manipulators walk around in a FOG, using Fear, Obligation, and Guilt to keep you in line with what they want. It has case studies, and goes into the reasons why our controllers do what they do. It gives you the tools to recognize what they are doing, and the keys to unlock the behavior. Because, believe me, they won't stop on their own. And, believe it or not, they - knowing full well that they do it - have convinced themselves that they are not the problem.

Highly recommended reading. Bring the tissues.
