I just finished reading this book by Emily Bleeker, and I couldn't put it down. Wreckage is well written, and is based on a very interesting premise.
Is it okay to lie, if you think you are protecting someone else's feelings?
This is something that most of us have struggled with at one time or another. But when one lie, leads to another, and then another to keep the web intact, when do you stop? And when the lies begin to have victims of their own, how do you turn the tide to get life back to normal?
This is a fabulous story of this exact situation, taken to an extreme. A plane crash in the South Pacific strands three strangers on a remote, uninhabited island. The story tactfully and gracefully tells the same situation from two different standpoints, and both from present and past tense. When I first started reading, I thought I would get confused bouncing back and forth in time and from one point of view character to another, but I did not. I've never read a book written like this. I caught on fast, and could not stop reading.
I will not give away the ending, or how they get where they get, but this book is a must read. When the main characters try to 'do the right thing' in the end, to erase the lies and get their lives back on track, the outcome will be a twist you do not see coming.
I highly recommend this book, an give it my coveted 5-dragon review. The highest possible for my fantasy-lovers brain.
Until next time:
