My first answer was King David.
The youngest of at least eight sons, David slew a giant at 15 years old. He became a great King. But, he made a mess of his life. His own son tried to kill him. One of his daughters was raped by her brother. He committed adultery, and then when his lover became pregnant, he his her husband killed. Then he married her, and the baby died.
Long story short, David made a mess out of his life. He was given more than most of us will ever dream about, and he abused his position and wreaked havoc on his household.
But yet, God still used him for great things. So many that we still recognize him today as one of the greatest kings that ever lived.
And best of all, he has a prominent place in the direct lineage of Jesus because of his faithfulness.
Messed up your life? Made some wrong choices? Well, welcome to the human race. But if God can use a simple shepherd that can throw rocks, then he can use you too.
Think about it.
Until next time:
