My ex-mother-in-law passed away this week. She had been ill for some time, and the passing came as somewhat of a relief to several members of the family. As much as you do not want to say good-bye to a loved one, there comes a time when their suffering is too much to bear. I am comforted that she knew both who Jesus is, and what He has done for us all. I have no doubts that she resides in Heaven.
And now the fun begins. Splitting up the property, possessions, memories, photos, and all-around junk that comprise our lives here on earth. It is both a taxing chore, and the taxes that follow.
As sure as death and taxes are real, so is Jesus. What we have here on earth is just stuff... including money. Houses, cars, and bank accounts mean nothing in our eternal life ahead. They will do us no good, and we cannot take them with us. What is important is 1) who we are when we are here, and 2) who we know when we pass to the next life.
All it takes to know, without a doubt in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God, and that He was sent here to die for your sins. Nothing else matters. If you can acknowledge that, then everything else is just details... including those dreaded taxes!
Until next time:
Peace to you and yours,
