One country trying to control another.
One bank trying to control another.
One person trying to control another.
My kids are really tired of hearing me say this, but it's true. That realization aside, the reasons for it may actually shock you. With people, it all stems from one thing. INSECURITY.
Yup, that's right; insecurity. Life altering, crippling insecurity.
The people that push you the most, bully you in school, stab you in the back, manipulate and control your every move, most often suffer from a debilitating lack of self-worth.
So they try to force it, or take it from the people around them. They seek their value from others.
But what they don't get is that everything they take, they are taking away from someone else. Every party they try to control, is an opportunity taken from someone else. Every put down they throw is a slap in someone else's face.
When you have really low self-worth, then the easiest way to build yourself up is by knocking someone else down... Or so the world says. But there's another way.
Jesus said, "I have come so that you may have life, and have it abundantly." There is no need for us to be at odds. There is no reason for the bullies of the world to beat up on those around them. If we can all just take a step back from ourselves and look to Christ, He will fulfill all our emptiness and give us a self-worth and a value greater than anything this earth could ever imagine.
Give it a try. If you are inclined to put someone else down, or take something they deserve, take a step back and think. If someone is doing that to you, realize where it is coming from, and try to help rather than lashing out in hurt. The results might just surprise you.
